‘K.I.D. TENNIS’ AT OCEAN SPRINGS TENNIS COMPLEX (Halstead)

Hi my name is Jim Jones and I’m the Director of Tennis for the City of Ocean Springs. If you are looking to introduce the great game of Tennis to your child or wanting to continue their development with the game, I’d like to invite you to our K.I.D. Tennis (Kids Instructional and Developmental Tennis) program. I am a U.S.P.T.A. Elite Pro with over 27 years teaching experience. K.I.D. Tennis is administrator in a positive, fun, game orientated environment emphasizing solid fundamentals.

The following is the program and cost;

Guppies (age 3-4)

Eye hand awareness, basic tennis steps, racquet awareness. Fun, positive environment using age appropriate size racquets, nets and nurf tennis balls.

Minnows (age 5-6)

Same basics as Guppies with the addition of more moving to the hitting spot and scoring. Age appropriate equipment as well.

Barracudas (age 7-8)

Much more back and forth ball play with overhead serves. Singles AND doubles play begins

Sharks (age 9-10)

This is the most advanced K.I.D. Tennis group. They will play a complete game and set using all the strokes.

K.I.D. Tennis begins on Monday September 9th. It will last for eight weeks with a ninth week for make ups.

June 10th-July 31st M & W 5:00-6:00pm (8 weeks)

Junior Academy I (11-18 yr olds)

South Mississippi Summer Fair

The South Mississippi Summer Fair is a family-friendly, jam-packed affordable annual event that offers rides, live music, shows, contests, and entertainment. Named a multi-year Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society, the Summer Fair runs June 6-16, 2019 on the grounds of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. This year’s entertainment includes Close Encounters of the Exotic Kind, The 3 Ring Super Circus and back by popular demand, Extreme Illusions & Escapes with Josh Knotts and Lea featuring all new jaw dropping illusions and mind boggling escapes. And let’s not forget our favorite Show-Me-Safari Swine racing and petting zoo, the family fun tent, live local music, and much more!

Gate admission is FREE every day for children 11 and under. For adults (12 and older) Sunday – Thursday gate admission is free with the purchase of an Unlimited Ride Wristband or $5 without a wristband. Fridays & Saturdays gate admission is $5 for adults (12 and older).

Gates open at 5:00 pm Monday-Friday and 1:00 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Be the Light Performing Arts Summer Camp at Coast Community Church

Children ages 6 to 11 are invited to attend a one week, half-day summer camp. YOU MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED TO ATTEND. The cost for the camp is $40/child and includes 2 classes, snacks for the week, and a free T-shirt. There are only 60 spots available, and classes are assigned “first come, first serve”, so please register as soon as possible.

Each child will have the option of two classes in the areas of dance, sign language, movement, and puppetry. They will learn two performances and then have an opportunity to show them to parents on Friday evening, July 12th. Please see the descriptions below for each type of class.

SIGN LANGUAGE: American Sign Language to worship and enhance songs for the Deaf Community and others.

DANCE: Steps from several different dance styles including lyrical, hip hop, modern, and ballet.

MOVEMENT: Props and stylized movements to tell a story set to music or spoken words.

PUPPETRY: Puppets and props tell a story with lip syncing and synchronized motions.

NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN ANY OF THESE AREAS IS NECESSARY.
